Jennifer Burrage

Jennifer Burrage started working in the mortgage industry in Newfoundland and Labrador with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) in 2008. New to the industry during the global economic crisis, she hit the ground running during a critical time of change across the Canadian mortgage landscape. Jennifer quickly developed strong, trusting relationships with her lender and broker clients, industry partners and mortgage organizations including Mortgage Professionals Canada (MPC).

Jennifer is a knowledgeable, dedicated and enthusiastic Regional Business Manager (BDM) at Equitable Bank, servicing brokers throughout Atlantic Canada. As the first representative for Equitable Bank in the region, she has continued to develop solid relationships with her broker clients and industry partners both locally and nationally.

With her deep passion for the mortgage broker profession, Jennifer has served on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association (CMBA), was nominated as Best Newcomer BDM at the 2016 CMA Awards and is an active member of Women in the Mortgage Industry (WIMI).

Jennifer is currently pursuing her MBA in Financial Services at Dalhousie University.

If elected to the Board of Directors for MPC, Jennifer plans to ensure the organization is present and active in all four Atlantic provinces. This will enable broker networks throughout Canada to be able to access necessary resources MPC can provide. These include educational and professional development sessions, workshops and inspirational speakers that in turn will bring value to the mortgage industry.

Jennifer is also committed to being present at all industry events within her role at Equitable Bank. By actively engaging brokers, lenders and other industry partners to join and participate in MPC activities, her aim is to strengthen the mortgage broker community nationwide.

Eric Chamelot

I am building on the momentum that Mathieu Lebrun and Claude Girard have started in recent years and represent you on the MPC Council. I think Maxime Stencer and I would make a great and effective duo.

I already have experience serving on this Board because for the past year I have served as Director-at-Large. Not elected in the 2020 election, I was chosen for a one-year term by the rest of the Board. This is a testament to the good relationships I have with many members of the mortgage brokerage industry in Canada.

Mortgage brokerage regulation
I believe in the continuity of the efforts already initiated to represent the interests of the brokerage industry in Quebec. We have some hot issues with the AMF (inter-provincial brokerage, referencing of real estate brokers, lobbying to government authorities, etc.) and I believe that the knowledge that I have of these issues and of the regulations in force make me a good representative.

Training
Continuing education is essential for us today. Consumer profiles and behaviors are changing. As mortgage brokers, it will be more important to stand out as the best advisers and experts for financing. We will have to invest time and money in continually improving our knowledge. I intend to promote “relevant” continuing education to members.

Regardless of firm, only one logo matters on this forum, that of MPC.
