Sarah Potter

Sarah Potter has been in the mortgage industry for nearly a decade, in both the lender side and broker side. She began her mortgage career in 2013 as a mortgage processor for CitiMortgage where she quickly fell in love with the underwriting process. After moving home to Ottawa, she transitioned to broker underwriting where she discovered the joy of having more solutions in her toolbox. Over her career she has underwritten over 4,000 files and has developed a passion for mortgage education. In 2021 Sarah helped create an underwriting hub at her brokerage and designed a training program to take agents to the next level of their mortgage career.

Earlier this year Sarah was invited by Centum to sit on an expert broker panel. She spoke about the importance of mortgage education, differentiating yourself in the market, work-life balance, and maintaining your inspiration spark.

Working in mortgages has completely changed Sarah’s life and she’s devoted to empowering others through education to become capable, self-sustaining agents, confident in their ability to build the life they want. This passion will serve her well in the position with the MPC Board of Directors and continue their excellent work of promoting accountability, education, and high ethical standards within the mortgage industry.

Mathieu Lebrun

Erica Ma

Erica Ma has been a proactive and enthusiastic member of the Canadian mortgage brokering industry for 15+ years, most recently joining TMG The Mortgage Group as an Area Vice President.

Passionate about helping mortgage brokers grow their businesses, Erica quickly went from becoming a licensed broker to a business development manager at First National Financial. Working with brokers better aligned with her aspiration for training and building lifelong relationships to help others meet their business goals.

As a BDM, Erica trained new brokers on effective deal packaging, helped structure files and offered solutions that led to more closed deals.

After eight years with First National, Erica embraced a new challenge with CMHC where she managed bank and credit union corporate accounts. This enabled her to continue on her chosen path of training and business development, but this time through the bank channel.

Erica missed working with mortgage brokers so she returned to First National for another five years before joining TMG’s management team in 2021, where she not only helps brokers, but also gives back to the community through TMG’s charity of choice, Breakfast Club of Canada. Erica also led a recent TMG blood drive to help replenish the supply shortage fuelled by the pandemic.

A dedicated champion of women, Erica also generously spends any spare time mentoring new industry members whenever possible, regardless of how stretched she already is as a professional and mother. She finds mentoring incredibly rewarding as it empowers her to have a positive impact on people’s career growth and life, which also helps fuel the future of the Canadian mortgage brokering landscape.

Erica’s also an active contributor to the Women in the Mortgage Industry online form, where she creates and posts helpful videos that provide insight and value to her peers.
