Description

The Ontario Mortgage Agent Course is required by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) in order to be licensed under the Act and become a Mortgage Agent and/or Broker. For full details on becoming licensed as a mortgage agent, please visit FSRA's website.

This course is designed according to key competencies and curriculum established by the Mortgage Broker Regulator’s Council of Canada (MBRCC), which represents governments and other self-regulatory organizations that are responsible for administering mortgage brokerage legislation.

By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge to successfully pass the Agent licensing exam and the skills to broker a mortgage with assistance. Individuals wanting to apply for a mortgage agent license in Ontario must complete this course and pass a proctored examination either online, or at a pre-approved testing centre.

A link to the e-textbook Introduction to the Canadian Mortgage Industry, 6th Edition, will be included in your emailed receipt after completing registration.

Course Policies

Please make sure to read the Course and Cancellation Policies document and the Learners Code of Conduct prior to registering for the course.

Students must complete the online modules and final exam within 6 months of their original registration date. Course extensions may be purchased, if required.

This is a competency-based program focused on building the skills rather than simply the knowledge you will need to successfully provide mortgage brokerage services in Ontario.

What is the passing grade?
60%
What happens if I fail?
Rewrites are free for scheduled exams at our MPC facilities. However, a fee of $75 would apply if booking an individual exam outside the GTA or booking an online exam. You must re-write the exam within 6 months of receiving pass/fail email notification. If you fail a second time, you will need to re-enrol in the course.
How do I book an exam and where can I write it?
Online learners need to complete their course before an exam date can be booked. Once complete, learners will have access to the BOOK EXAM button on their My Activities page. For full details on examinations and testing sites, please visit our exam info page.
Does the exam cost money?
Online exam bookings cost $75 and the in-person exam fee is $100.
How can I request a rewrite and how many rewrites do I get?
Email [email protected] to schedule a re-write within 6 months of receiving your grade. Only 1 rewrite is permitted. If you fail the rewrite, re-enrolment would be required to continue with your studies.
I don’t live in the GTA, can I write my exam in another city?
Individual exam bookings outside the GTA are $100+HST. Email a written request to [email protected] to determine the test centre closest to you or visit our exam info page for more information.
When do I get access to my online program?
Online access is available immediately upon registration. Students can either download their e-textbook from their online course or use the link provided to them in their emailed registration receipt.
Can I place a hold on my course, or transfer my registration to another person?
No. However, exceptions may be made if requests are submitted to the Education Department by email for review.
How long does it take to get exams results?
Exam results are emailed within 5 business days of your exam date. Upon receiving your results, you can download your certificate under “My Activities”.
