"How Mortgage Professionals can Help Protect Homes from Flooding" is a free, 1.5 hour, self-directed, online training course that has been developed based on 4 years of community-based flood protection research by the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion that can be applied as continuing education credits.
Members (Originators, Lenders, Insurers, and Industry Service Providers) who complete the course will bring value add to their clients by being able to explain in clear and simple terms why flood losses are on the rise across Canada, different types of flooding that can impact homes, and practical actions clients can take to protect their homes from flooding to avoid defaulting on their home's mortgage. The goal of the training course is to provide the foundation for productive conversations with clients about protecting their life's greatest investment - their home.
