Know What You’ll Need

The Manitoba Mortgage Salesperson Course is completed online and requires approximately 40 hours of study. Before registering, make sure you’re prepared for the course and final examination requirements.

  • A financial calculator is required. You’ll need an approved financial calculator to complete course calculations and prepare for the examination.
  • Plan for approximately 40 hours of study. The course is self-directed, allowing you to work through the material at your own pace.
  • You have six months to complete the course. Complete the required online learning and final examination within the course-access period.
  • Choose your textbook format when registering. Select either the electronic textbook or printed textbook option.

What You Need to Become Licensed in Manitoba

The Manitoba Mortgage Salesperson Course is approved by the Manitoba Securities Commission (MSC) for Mortgage Salesperson licensing. Completing the course and successfully passing the required examination satisfies the education component of the licensing process.

Complete the Manitoba Mortgage Salesperson Course

Complete all required online course modules before booking your final examination.

Pass the Final Examination

The passing grade for the final examination is 70%. The examination must be successfully completed before you can proceed with the licensing process.

Use an Approved Financial Calculator

A financial calculator is required for the course. Instruction is provided using the following models:

  • Hewlett-Packard 10bII or 10bII+
  • Texas Instruments BAII+ or BAII+ Professional

Complete the Course Within the Required Timeframe

Students must complete the online course modules and final examination within 6 months of the original registration date. Course extensions may be purchased if required.

Meet Manitoba Licensing Requirements

To qualify for a Mortgage Salesperson licence in Manitoba, applicants must also meet the requirements established by the Manitoba Securities Commission, including:

  • Be suitable for a licence.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be authorized by a mortgage brokerage to deal in mortgages.
  • Meet the Mortgage Salesperson education requirements.
  • Register for a licence with the MSC within 6 months of successfully completing the examination.

Once you have passed the final examination and joined a mortgage brokerage, your brokerage submits your licensing application to the Manitoba Securities Commission.
