Program Overview

What you’ll learn

The AMPC Designation Program includes four required courses covering mortgage transactions, residential underwriting, specialized lending and professional ethics.

Course Examinations

Complete an exam after each course

Each AMPC course includes a multiple-choice examination completed through the course portal. A minimum grade of 75% is required for each exam.

AMPC 1 and AMPC 4 2-hour examinations
AMPC 2 and AMPC 3 3-hour examinations
Passing grade 75% for every examination

Eligibility Criteria

Can you earn the AMPC Designation?

Whether you are a licensed mortgage professional or work in the mortgage industry in another capacity, there is a pathway to earning the Accredited Mortgage Professional of Canada designation.

Broker Pathway

AMPC for Brokers

For mortgage originators, including associates, agents, salespersons and submortgage brokers.

Membership

Be employed by a Mortgage Professionals Canada member company.

Licensing and Registration

Be licensed or registered as a mortgage broker, agent, submortgage broker, associate or salesperson in your province of operation and carry Errors and Omissions insurance coverage.

AMPC Program and Examination

Successfully complete all four AMPC courses administered by the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business, and pass all four final course examinations with a minimum grade of 75%.

Provincial education requirements: If an education component is not required for licensing or registration in your province, you must provide proof of completing a proficiency course equivalent to entry-level licensing education in another province.

The term broker is used here as a general term for licensed originators in the brokerage channel. Titles vary by province.

Non-Broker Pathway

AMPC for Non-Brokers

For mortgage industry professionals who are not licensed mortgage originators.

Membership

Be employed by a Mortgage Professionals Canada member company.

Proficiency Education or Industry Experience

Provide proof of completing an approved proficiency course equivalent to entry-level mortgage education, or have at least five years of experience working in the mortgage broker industry.

AMPC Program and Examination

Successfully complete all four AMPC courses administered by the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business, and pass all four final course examinations with a minimum grade of 75%.

Accepted Education Pathways

  • An MPC entry-level licensing course
  • Personal Lending and Mortgages, offered by Moody's Analytics and the Canadian Securities Institute
  • Consumer and Residential Mortgage Lending, offered by Moody's Analytics and the Canadian Securities Institute
  • Mortgage Financing and Consumer Credit, offered by Seneca College
  • Real Estate Finance in a Canadian Context, offered by the UBC Sauder School of Business, Real Estate Division
  • FSU 101 or MAP 100 programs offered by FSRA-approved Ontario colleges
