Regulatory CE in British Columbia

The Registrar of Mortgage Brokers in British Columbia requires persons registered as mortgage brokers or submortgage brokers under the Mortgage Brokers Act to qualify for reinstatement of their registration by completing continuing education. As such, the Registrar in B.C. has approved Mortgage Professionals Canada as a provider of two mandatory continuing education modules. These modules may be completed and counted towards yearly registration renewal with BCFSA.

Avoiding Unconscionable Transactions

This online module, approved by the Registrar of Mortgage Brokers in British Columbia, focuses on providing a better understanding of unconscionable acts or practices including:

  • defining terminology and identifying examples of unconscionable acts or practices
  • describing circumstances used to determine if an act or practice is unconscionable
  • identifying remedies and regulatory orders that may be ordered by a court under the BPCPA
  • identifying options available to the Registrar in cases of non-compliance
  • describing circumstances that may lead to unconscionable acts or practices
  • identifying how unconscionable acts or practices fit into the larger context of the MBA and BPCPA

This online module, approved by the Registrar of Mortgage Brokers in British Columbia, focuses on the broker's role in identifying and preventing fraud, covering topics such as:

  • identify the red flags that should trigger suspicions of possible fraud
