The Program

The OMBEP focuses on the skills and knowledge required to effectively supervise agents and to ensure that the brokerage complies with all applicable rules. It is designed to meet both the FSCO-developed Mortgage Broker Qualifying Standards (MBQS) and the MBRCC Managing Broker Program Competencies and Curriculum

The two-phase format of the Ontario Mortgage Broker Education Program is prescribed by FSCO. For more information about what each phase should deliver, please review the tabs at the bottom of this page.

1. Register for Phase I: Online today! You will receive your registration confirmation via email. Access your online modules immediately by clicking on "My Activities" once you're logged in.

2. Once you have successfully completed Phase I, you will be eligible to register for Phase II: In-Class. You must complete Phase I: Online before you can register for Phase II: In-Class. Check back for the next available in-class dates.

MORE INFORMATION


Phase I must be taught by distance-learning in order to be accessible to students across the province. This stage must cover all of the MBQS and MBRCC learning objectives so that students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to supervise agents and carry out the responsibilities of a Principal Broker.




Phase II must consist of in-class seminars that build on the knowledge and skills acquired in the first phase through practical examples. In this phase, students will interact and learn from others’ ideas and experiences. This phase must run a minimum of five full days, including the examination. Students must take both stages of the course and pass the examination in order to meet the education requirements for licensing.
