On November 2, 2026, Mortgage Professionals Canada (MPC) brought the voices of Ontario's mortgage professionals to Queen's Park for its Ontario Advocacy Day, engaging with provincial policymakers on key issues affecting housing affordability, homeownership and the mortgage industry.
Throughout the day, MPC representatives and participating members met with government and opposition representatives, including representatives from the Office of the Premier, the ministries responsible for Finance; Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade; Labour; Municipal Affairs and Housing; and Treasury Board, as well as Members of Provincial Parliament from across the political spectrum.
MPC and its participating members were also recognized twice during Question Period, highlighting the importance of the mortgage industry's voice in provincial policy discussions.
Building on the Ontario government's temporary expansion of HST relief on new homes beyond first-time buyers, MPC presented four key priorities aimed at improving housing affordability, reducing barriers to homeownership and strengthening Ontario's mortgage sector.
The day concluded with a reception bringing together MPC members, industry representatives and elected officials from across Ontario's political parties.
The reception featured remarks from Minister Rob Flack and MPPs Catherine McKenney, Adil Shamji and Aislinn Clancy, providing further opportunities to strengthen relationships and continue important conversations about Ontario's housing and mortgage markets.
The participation of MPC members was central to the day's success. Their firsthand experiences working with Ontario homebuyers helped illustrate the real-world impacts of housing affordability challenges, upfront taxes and regulatory requirements.
MPC will continue advancing these priorities through ongoing engagement with provincial policymakers and its upcoming pre-budget submission ahead of Ontario's next provincial budget.
As the national voice of Canada's mortgage industry, Mortgage Professionals Canada remains committed to advocating for policies that make homeownership more accessible, protect consumers and support a strong, competitive mortgage profession.
