Opening Remarks

Jill Moellering is just another mortgage agent, she puts her work sweats on one leg at a time. She started in this industry in 2018 and quickly grew her business convincing hundreds of people to provide her with all of their personal identifying documentation. In addition to running an award-winning business personally, she also mentors and coaches a team of agents and contributes regularly on industry Facebook forums; particularly the newbie mortgage professionals page of which she is a founding admin. She has presented at numerous MPC New Agent Symposiums, is on the AMBA Board of Directors, runs a successful underwriting training course (The Mortgage Nerd) and is a 2022 and 2023 Women of Influence.

Eric Poblete is a sales professional with over 30+ years' experience working with all vertical markets. In the last 12 years, Eric has worked with Equifax Canada with a focus on the mortgage, rental and housing industries. As the Equifax ambassador for the mortgage broker market, he has provided extensive support and education to all the varied stakeholders including brokers, lenders, underwriters, real estate agents, and insurers helping them to understand credit, compliance, financial trends and fraud directly and indirectly related to the mortgage market.

Frances Massie
Tips and Best Practices on Underwriting and How to Position Your Application for Success

Francis started her career in the mortgage industry over 13 years ago. She transitioned through various roles and departments from Mortgage Servicing to Commercial Lending, and then on to Residential Lending where she started as a Mortgage Officer and eventually an became an Underwriter. Francis demonstrates a knack for finding solutions and showing genuine passion for providing exceptional service. Francis progressed from there, and grew her ability to analyze complex deals and make informed decisions. Realizing that her skills were best suited for a sales role, she made the move to internal sales and then eventually became a BDM. Francis has been a BDM for over three years, and was nominated for BDM of the Year at the Canadian Mortgage Awards in 2021. Her experience and knowledge has given her a competitive edge in building meaningful key relationships with broker partners by always educating and advocating, while going above and beyond in delivering great service.

Fraud Insights and Tips

Cherolle is a financial crime professional with over 20+ years of experience in the Canadian financial industry. She has extensive experience in retail, small business and commercial banking fraud and was responsible for the development and execution of fraud strategy (Canadian and U.S.) at two major Canadian financial institutions. At Equifax, Cherolle leads a team of analytic consultants that provide data and analytics expertise to help customers solve complex business problems related to fraud.

David Clarke has been a mortgage broker for 10 years with offices across Nova Scotia. He focus on a lot of alt and creative mortgage options as well as servicing rural communities. He has been a finalist for the Canadian Mortgage Awards and has been seen in a few mortgage publications throughout the last 6 or 7 years. Dave has two beautiful kids and lives in the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.

David will be presenting about lead generation and how tracking your data will allow you to know exactly how many people you need to talk to or how many responses from ads you need to hit your sales targets. He will talk about his success in person with networking and meetings and how one of the ways to differentiate yourself in this internet world is to have boots on the ground. He will also talk about routine and planning and how being successful in the office starts the minute you wake up until the time you go to bed. How routine and your personal health and personal life all go into it. How making a long lasting impact on people gets your repeat referrals and overall makes your job easier as years go on.
